The fact that such a small group of executive individuals is capable of controlling such a large population, partly illustrates theories brought about in George Orwell’s, 19841984 Graphic, in which the government was able to control the minds and lives of its citizens. As media inundates modern day society’s norms and customs, the power correlated with these actions becomes more apparent due to its far reaching effects. Media plays an ever growing role in the socialization everyone, more so recently in children. Through the media’s portrayal of norms of not only fashion, they are showing our youth a false representation of idealism.



Conclusion

The definition of media that is proposed by the dictionary is accurate, however it is not precise. Not precise because it lacks the incorporation of media related to entertainment, technology and information, influence and power.
